A special flight brought Pakistani students back from Kyrgyzstan’s capital, Bishkek, after a mob attack left several international students injured. Kashmir Affairs Minister, Amir Muqam, welcomed the students at Islamabad International Airport, pledging government assistance for their return. Information Minister, Attaullah Tarar, emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and education of Pakistani students.
Additional flights will continue to bring students home, with efforts to prioritize their well-being. The Pakistani embassy in Kyrgyzstan facilitated the return process, ensuring the safety of students. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education, Meena Khan Afridi, coordinated efforts to bring back students stuck in Kyrgyzstan through special flights.
GB CM advocates for student return
Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister pressed the Foreign Office to prioritize the safe return of stranded students, particularly females, from Kyrgyzstan. The government is actively working to ensure the welfare and protection of Pakistani students abroad.
Repatriation flights
Special flights organized by the government brought back hundreds of students to Lahore and Islamabad, with officials welcoming them upon arrival. The Civil Aviation Authority liaised with the students and provided necessary services, under the directive of the Prime Minister.
Attack on hostels
Following the violent attack on student hostels in Bishkek, the Pakistani embassy and Foreign Office ensured student safety and coordinated with Kyrgyz authorities to address the incidents. Measures are being taken to safeguard Pakistani students abroad and maintain their well-being.
