The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections saw Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal elected as president after a 22-year gap.
Sibal’s victory over Pradeep Rai and Dr Adish Aggarwala was celebrated by the outgoing president, emphasizing the importance of political neutrality in bar associations.
Dr Aggarwala stressed the need for independence from political influence to safeguard the interests of the members and avoid division along political lines.
He commended Sibal’s strategic political support and urged him to engage big corporates for the welfare of young lawyers through CSR initiatives.
Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, congratulated Sibal and expressed hope for cooperation in leading the SCBA forward, highlighting the significance of unity among members.
