Last week, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry declared its official intention to intervene and support South Africa’s lawsuit against Israel at the ICJ.

Egypt has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting South Africa’s lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over alleged genocide in Gaza. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry dismissed reports of withdrawal and emphasized its determination to condemn Israeli actions before the ICJ.

The escalating severity of Israeli attacks on Palestinians in Gaza prompted Egypt’s decision to intervene. South Africa has accused Israel of genocide in Gaza, with an interim ruling supporting the plausibility of these claims.

Current Situation

Israel’s aggression in Gaza has resulted in over 35,000 Palestinian deaths and thousands of injuries. The ongoing conflict has led to famine, displacement, and a significant loss of civilian lives, primarily affecting women and children.

The international community continues to monitor the situation as Egypt and South Africa pursue justice and accountability for the atrocities committed.
