Introducing Camp Miron: A Symbol of Enhanced Polish-American Defense Cooperation
The new U.S. special forces base at Kraków’s Balice airport has been officially named Camp Miron in honor of Mirosław “Miron” Łucki, a Polish soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan in 2013. This dedication signifies the deepening military ties between Poland and the United States, with U.S. Ambassador Mark Brzezinski emphasizing the strength of their defense cooperation.
Fortifying NATO Security
Camp Miron will accommodate 150-200 American soldiers on a rotational basis, bolstering strategic presence in Eastern Europe. The base, initially consisting of temporary living facilities, will eventually be upgraded to permanent structures. This move underscores the enduring commitment of the U.S. to Poland and NATO, enhancing the alliance’s overall security.

Mirowsław Łucki, a brave operator of the Special Forces Unit Commandos, is commemorated through Camp Miron. His legacy, marked by valor and sacrifice during a mission, remains a source of inspiration for both Polish and American troops. The base’s location in Kraków aligns it closely with elite units and underscores its pivotal role in national and NATO defense strategies.
