Armenia PM hails Tavush border delimitation as ‘major win’ for 2 key reasons

Armenia and Azerbaijan’s border delimitation commissions have reached an agreement on designated border sections in various villages, as announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The border sections include Baghanis and Voskepar in Armenia, Baghanis Ayrum and Ashaghi Askipara in Azerbaijan, Kirants and Berkaber in Armenia, and Kheyrimli and Ghizilhajili in Azerbaijan.

Pashinyan praised this achievement as a significant step towards strengthening sovereignty and independence. He highlighted the importance of having an officially delimited border for the first time since 1991, which will enhance security and stability in the region. The use of maps from 1976 and the principles of the Alma-Ata Declaration were emphasized in the delimitation process to maintain the historical borders.

The Armenian PM expressed gratitude to the border delimitation commission and stressed the need to reproduce existing borders rather than create new ones. This development signifies a milestone in the efforts to establish peaceful relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
