Yemeni Houthi rebels claimed to have shot down an American MQ-9 Predator drone, showcasing the wreckage online. The US military did not confirm the incident, but if true, it would mark another Predator downed by the Houthis amid the Gaza conflict.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree stated that rebels used a surface-to-air missile to take down the drone in Marib province. The US has lost at least five drones to the Houthis since their takeover in 2014, with Iran providing support.
The Houthis, demanding an end to the Gaza conflict, have also attacked shipping in the Red Sea. Despite a decrease in attacks due to US-led strikes, threats to maritime traffic persist.
