The European Union’s Growth Plan for the Western Balkans was highlighted by Montenegro’s Prime Minister, Milojko Spajic, at the Summit of Western Balkans Leaders and the EU in Kotor. The EU Council has approved a plan of six billion euros to support the region in implementing reforms and fostering economic growth through grants and loans. Regional leaders and representatives from the EU and U.S. are participating in the summit hosted by Spajic.

The Growth Plan aims to create a unified money market, reduce costs, facilitate market access, and generate more jobs. The plan is seen as a roadmap for the region’s preparation to join the EU. Regional leaders such as Bosnian Chair Borjana Kristo, Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic have expressed their commitment to the necessary reforms outlined in the plan.
