Russian troops made a move as deep as 10 kilometers during their offensive in Kharkiv Oblast but President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the front in the region has been stabilized. Moscow initiated a new offensive with 30,000 troops targeting Kharkiv Oblast on May 10. The focus of Russian forces was on the directions of Lyptsi and Vovchansk. Ukrainian defense stopped the advancement of Moscow’s forces commenting that they did not reach the concrete fortifications. President Zelensky highlighted the building of defense lines by the military and local authorities to combat the invasion.
Russia considers Vovchansk as a major target in Kharkiv Oblast. Ukrainian soldiers are actively maintaining control in the region preventing Russian troops from gaining a foothold. Zelensky mentioned that Ukraine has reinforced various sectors with battalions from reserves. The president also acknowledged the need for increased air defense systems to counter the Russian threat.
