President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukrainian brigades no longer face a shortage of artillery shells for the first time since Russia’s invasion, marking progress in securing necessary resources.
During the winter months, Ukraine’s Armed Forces struggled due to delays in U.S. military aid, leading to a critical shortage of artillery shells. However, a Czech-led initiative identified external sources to acquire 500,000 155 mm shells and 300,000 122 mm shells for Ukraine.
Multiple countries have supported the initiative financially, potentially resulting in the delivery of 1.5 million rounds to Kyiv. Meanwhile, Russia has increased its military production capacity and continues to receive ammunition from abroad, with North Korea emerging as a main supplier.
Despite these challenges, Zelensky highlighted progress in artillery shell procurement, reinforcing Ukraine’s defense capabilities. The ongoing efforts aim to address the imbalance in military resources between Ukraine and Russia, as both nations intensify their strategies in the conflict.
