A Maple Ridge Funeral Home Pleads for Help Amid Public Disorder
A Maple Ridge, B.C., funeral home, Garden Hill Cremation and Funeral Services, is facing constant vandalism and safety issues in its community. Nathan Logue, a representative from the funeral home, posted a video on Facebook showcasing the damage including broken windows, destroyed flower beds, needles, garbage, and human feces.
Logue expressed concern over the lack of support for addressing these issues and the inability of the city to provide necessary services to those causing the damages. Despite being in the location for over 30 years, Logue mentioned they might consider relocating due to the ongoing problems.
The community is also feeling the impact, with businesses suffering from vandalism and destruction. Ridge Meadows RCMP has announced initiatives to increase police visibility and accessibility in the downtown core to address the situation. City councillor Ahmed Yousef emphasized the need for comprehensive solutions to address underlying issues such as decriminalization and treatment accessibility.
