France must confront its history, not shift blame – critical analysis

French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin recently made baseless accusations against Azerbaijan, prompting a response from Azerbaijani Parliament member Sevinj Huseynova. Huseynova criticized France for its colonial past, citing atrocities committed in Algeria as an example. She also highlighted France’s biased politics in blaming Azerbaijan for New Caledonia’s fight for independence.

MP Mushfig Jafarov echoed Huseynova’s sentiments, pointing out France’s control over former colonies and the escalating tensions in New Caledonia. Jafarov called on France to acknowledge its colonial past and stop interfering in referendums in New Caledonia.

Both MPs emphasized the need for international organizations to condemn France’s actions and protect the rights of the Kanak people in New Caledonia. They urged the world to speak out against France’s policy of assimilation and support the fight for independence.

As Azerbaijan continues to face unfounded accusations from France, it is crucial for the international community to stand against colonialism and support nations striving for freedom and self-determination.
