Egypt rejects opening Rafah crossing due to Israeli occupation.

Israel’s operations at the Rafah crossing in Gaza are making it difficult for aid to enter the region. Egypt has firmly rejected opening the crossing from their side as long as Israel continues military operations. Despite Israel sending a delegation to Cairo to persuade Egypt to open the crossing, tensions have escalated over control of Rafah.

Egypt accuses Israel of blocking aid and trying to push Palestinian civilians into the Egyptian Sinai. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry emphasized that the responsibility lies with Israel to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Gaza. President Abeel Fattah El-Sisi criticized Israel’s actions at the Arab Summit, stating that Israel is trying to solidify its siege on Gaza through maneuvers at Rafah.

In response, Egypt plans to join South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice, citing Israel’s obstruction of aid to Gaza as a form of genocide. The situation remains tense as both countries are at odds over control of the Rafah crossing.
