13 nations call on Israel to show restraint in Rafah.

Thirteen Western countries, traditionally supportive of Israel, have issued a plea to the country, urging them not to launch a full-scale offensive on Rafah. The appeal, signed by foreign ministers from countries like Australia, Britain, and EU member states, emphasized the catastrophic consequences on civilians that such an operation would bring.

While the ministers welcomed recent steps taken by Israel to improve aid flow into Gaza, they called for further action, including allowing humanitarian aid through all crossing points, protecting civilians, and ensuring a sustainable ceasefire. They also urged Israel to open supply routes, resume essential services, and facilitate evacuations for humanitarian reasons.

Israel’s intensifying ground offensive in Rafah has raised concerns for the displaced Palestinians in the city, who are facing dire shortages of food, water, and medical supplies. The conflict, which began after an attack on southern Israel, has resulted in numerous casualties and hostages, prompting Israel to launch a military offensive on Gaza.
