King at Arab Summit: Gaza War undermines peace efforts

King Abdullah II Urges End to Conflict in Arab Region

During the 33rd Ordinary Session of the Council of the League of Arab States, King Abdullah II emphasized the urgent need to stop the war in Gaza that has caused catastrophic consequences. The King stressed the importance of ending the conflict, which has been ongoing for over seven decades, and supporting the Palestinian government in achieving their legitimate rights and establishing an independent state.

Furthermore, King Abdullah highlighted the need to maintain support for UNRWA to provide humanitarian aid and prevent the separation of the West Bank and Gaza. He also called for Arab coordination to address challenges facing the region and counter armed outlaw groups.

The King reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to preserving the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and underscored the importance of economic cooperation among Arab states for a future of peace and hope. The summit was attended by high-ranking Jordanian officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi.
