Imran Khan makes first appearance in nine months at Supreme Court
Pakistan’s former prime minister, Imran Khan, was seen for the first time in nearly nine months as he appeared in the Supreme Court via video link on Thursday. Mr Khan, who was arrested on corruption charges last year, sat solemnly in a blue t-shirt during the proceedings.
Despite expectations of a live stream on the court’s website and YouTube, the footage was not broadcasted. The reasons for this remain unclear. Mr Khan, a former cricketer and now a politician, has been sentenced to 14 years in jail for allegedly selling state gifts illegally during his time as prime minister.
Both Mr Khan and his wife have denied the accusations, labeling them as “politically motivated”. The case continues to attract attention as it unfolds.
