Imran Khan appears before Pakistan court via videolink | Latest news

The court appearance of the 71-year-old leader was not livestreamed on the court’s website or aired on news channels.

Islamabad, Pakistan Imran Khan, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister currently jailed, appeared virtually before the Supreme Court via videolink from prison for a case regarding amendments to the country’s anticorruption law. This marked Khan’s first appearance before the top court since his imprisonment in August 2023.

Despite the significant nature of the hearing, it was not broadcasted on the court’s website or national news channels. The Information Minister was contacted for clarification but did not respond.

Accusations were made by Khan’s party, PTI, claiming collusion between Chief Justice Faez Isa and the government, hindering the broadcast of the hearing. The amendments to the National Accountability Ordinance sparked controversy, leading Khan to file a petition in the Supreme Court, which is currently adjourned.

While Khan has been granted relief in some cases recently, his convictions in others keep him incarcerated. PTI remains optimistic about his legal battles.
