Singapore’s economic ties with India have been strengthened by the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), as acknowledged by former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in a farewell letter to the organization. Lee praised SICCI for providing local firms with market outreach and advisory services on the Indian market, enabling them to benefit from India’s growth potential.
Highlighting SICCI’s role in Singapore’s economic growth, Lee noted the chamber’s support in helping local Indian firms expand through transformation, innovation, and overseas ventures. He also commended SICCI’s collaboration with the government, particularly in providing feedback on policies like the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA).
Aside from its economic contributions, SICCI has also been actively involved in community initiatives, supporting charities and social projects. Lee expressed gratitude for SICCI’s longstanding support to the government and the Indian business community, urging the chamber to continue supporting Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who recently took office as Singapore’s fourth Prime Minister.
