The newly appointed Chinese ambassador Cong Peiwu recently met with top Iranian diplomat Hossein Amir-Abdollahian to further strengthen the deep and long-running relations between Iran and China. During the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian expressed appreciation for the efforts of Peiwu’s predecessor in advancing Tehran-Beijing relations and expressed hope that the new ambassador will continue to work towards enhancing ties between the two countries through the implementation of bilateral agreements in various fields.
Peiwu, in turn, highlighted the special importance that the Chinese government places on promoting comprehensive cooperation with Iran. He emphasized the historical depth and breadth of the relations between the two countries, with a history spanning two thousand years. Additionally, Peiwu noted the significance of the exchange of visits between the presidents of Iran and China, underscoring the commitment of the Chinese leadership to deepening all-round development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.
