Venezuela’s Vice President Condemns U.S. Sanctions as Form of Neocolonialism
Venezuela’s Vice President, Delcy Rodriguez, has criticized the United States’ use of sanctions as a tool of foreign policy, alongside war, to pressure countries like Venezuela into submission. She stated that over 1,000 unilateral coercive measures have been imposed on Venezuela in an attempt to force the country to change its path of independence and self-determination.
Rodriguez highlighted that these sanctions are a new form of neocolonialism and are aimed at seizing the country’s resources. She emphasized that the U.S. sanctions system seeks to obstruct the development of alternative models proposed by independent nations.
The Vice President also led a march in Petare, Miranda state, denouncing the U.S. blockade and showing support for President Nicolas Maduro. She urged the population not to be deceived by external forces seeking to undermine the legacy of former President Hugo Chavez.
Despite facing numerous sanctions, Rodriguez emphasized that President Maduro will not bow down before external pressures and will continue to defend Venezuela’s independence and sovereignty.
