Magician David Copperfield accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women

Renowned magician David Copperfield is facing allegations of sexual misconduct by more than a dozen women dating back several decades, as reported by The Guardian on May 15. The investigation uncovered claims from 16 women, with some alleging inappropriate behavior when they were under 18, including claims of being drugged before sexual encounters.

The British-based newspaper spoke to over 100 individuals and examined police and court records spanning from the late 1980s to 2014 to corroborate the allegations. Copperfield’s lawyers have denied the accusations, stating he has never acted inappropriately, especially with minors.

One woman recounted feeling “groomed” by Copperfield after meeting him as a teenager and later engaging in a consensual relationship. The magician’s legal team refuted claims of grooming, emphasizing a consensual and lawful relationship over four years.

Copperfield’s association with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein has also attracted attention, though his lawyers maintain he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal activities. Despite his past controversies, Copperfield continues to deny any wrongdoing in these recent allegations.
