Biden threatens veto on GOP bill sending weapons to Israel
Biden issues veto threat over ‘misguided’ GOP bill on weapons to Israel – the Hill

The White House has announced that President Joe Biden would veto a House GOP bill that aims to pressure him into sending weapons to Israel, labeling it as a reaction to a distorted view of the Administration’s approach to Israel. The bill, known as the Israel Security Assistance Support Act, is set for a vote this week and calls for the swift delivery of defense articles and services to Israel.

However, the Biden administration views this bill as undermining the President’s foreign policy execution capabilities. The administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring Israel has the necessary tools for self-defense, despite the temporary pause in bomb shipments earlier this month due to concerns over potential civilian casualties in Gaza.

Biden’s stance on providing defensive materials like missiles for the Iron Dome system remains firm, but offensive weapons like bombs and artillery shells could be halted in the event of an invasion of Rafah. The administration is determined to adhere to legal obligations and has recently signed a national security package including $15 billion in military aid for Israel.
