Muscat – The 18th Let’s Read Children’s Writing Competition 2024 showcased incredible talents with the theme ‘My Hero’. The winners were declared on May 11. Lena Bazzi, in the 9 to 12 years category, penned a powerful piece on Malala Yousafzai, highlighting her bravery and resilience in fighting for girls’ education despite facing threats from the Taliban. This Pakistani teenager survived an assassination attempt and went on to become the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, inspiring millions worldwide.
Another gripping entry came from Muhammed Narmawala, capturing a desert adventure in Oman during the country’s 50th National Day celebrations. What started as a fun trip turned into a nerve-wracking moment when their car got stuck in the sand dunes. Thanks to Salem, a knowledgeable and resourceful local guide, they turned the mishap into an exhilarating experience, forging unforgettable memories under the starlit sky.
Lastly, Loay al Maskari paid a heartfelt tribute to his father, Sultan Mohamed Juma Al Maskari, a renowned orthopaedic surgeon whose dedication to saving lives and commitment to family make him a true hero in his son’s eyes. Through his father’s actions and love, Loay has found a role model and constant support, shaping his values and outlook on life.
