Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has warned that investments promised by the US and its allies are merely bait to entice Central Asian governments into cooperation. Galuzin issued the caution during a speech at an event on Central Asian politics, emphasizing that the West aims to control the region’s natural resources, transport corridors, and use it as a staging ground against Russian security.
While Western nations offer partnership programs, military exercises, investments, and market access to Central Asian governments, Galuzin believes their ultimate goal is to establish a firm hold on the region. He warned of the potential rise of color revolutions orchestrated by the West to destabilize governments in Central Asia once they no longer serve their interests.
Russia, with its historical ties and cooperative track record with Central Asian nations, is seen as a valuable partner for ensuring regional stability and security. Galuzin emphasized Moscow’s commitment to respecting national sovereignty and the right of countries to prioritize their own interests above external influences.
