Sindh Home Minister Proposes New Anti-Crime Squadron in Karachi
Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar recently visited the Karachi Police Office to discuss the city’s law and order situation. During the meeting, the city police chief proposed setting up a new anti-crime squad in Karachi, similar to Lahore’s Dolphin Force, to tackle street crime effectively.
The plan includes providing 1,800 motorcycles for patrolling, 1,100 vehicles, 2,000 pistols, and 5,000 anti-riot kits for the new motorcycle force. Additionally, there are proposals to recruit 9,200 new policemen for the metropolis to enhance security measures.
The Additional Inspector General emphasized the police force’s efforts in safeguarding Chinese nationals, experts, and other foreigners. He also highlighted the decreasing trend in incidents such as car snatching, mobile phone theft, and robbery-related killings due to effective policing strategies and rigorous actions against criminals.
Furthermore, it was announced that regular monthly meetings will be held to monitor and improve the law and order situation in Karachi.
Notably, the Dolphin Force, established in 2016 in Punjab, has been successful in combating street crime and ensuring public safety.
