In a discussion at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2024, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed Armenia’s eagerness to be included in the EU European Peace Facility. Highlighting the strained relations between Armenia and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Pashinyan emphasized the need for diversifying foreign relations. He mentioned developing defense cooperation with countries like India and France, while also welcoming the EU Civilian Observation Mission on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border as a new factor in regional security.
Pashinyan stressed Armenia’s readiness to engage with the European Union, hoping to initiate visa liberalization negotiations. He emphasized Armenia’s willingness to strengthen ties with the EU and expressed optimism about being as close to the EU as deemed possible. The Prime Minister also underlined Armenia’s anticipation of the EU’s decision regarding its inclusion in the European Peace Facility, signaling a proactive approach towards enhancing security and cooperation.
