Police Minister Bheki Cele emphasized the importance of strong law enforcement ahead of South Africa’s general elections, warning that no one would be tolerated for any misconduct. Addressing the media at a crime prevention imbizo in Soshanguve, Pretoria, Cele reassured the public of the preparedness of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) cluster for the upcoming 29 May elections. He mentioned that he and national police commissioner General Fannie Masemola had already communicated with every station commander to ensure all necessary measures are in place.
