Supriya Sule Raises Concerns About Non-functional CCTV Cameras at EVM Storage
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Supriya Sule raised alarms when she discovered that the CCTV cameras at the strongroom storing Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the Baramati Lok Sabha Constituency were non-functional for over 40 minutes.
Sule, the NCP candidate from Baramati, demanded an explanation from the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding the CCTV issue, which she deemed ‘suspicious’.
Sharing her concerns on social media, Sule highlighted the gravity of the situation where EVMs were stored without active surveillance. The ECI responded by explaining that the cameras were briefly turned off due to electrical work. The returning officer confirmed that all cameras were operational, ensuring data integrity.
Sule’s vigilance underscores the importance of maintaining transparent and secure electoral processes. As the Lok Sabha Election 2024 progresses, such incidents serve as reminders of the need for heightened scrutiny and accountability in the electoral process.
