Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Hold High-Level Meeting on AJK Protests
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for a high-level meeting to address the ongoing protests in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). He recently spoke with the AJK prime minister and directed PML-N office bearers to engage with protest leaders for a peaceful resolution.
Expressing concern over the situation, PM Shehbaz emphasized the importance of peaceful dialogue while condemning violence and property damage. He urged all parties to resolve their demands peacefully.
The protests in AJK turned violent, resulting in the death of a police official and injuries to several others. The protests were led by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), demanding fair electricity pricing, subsidized wheat flour, and an end to elite privileges.
Despite the chaos, PM Shehbaz remains optimistic that the situation will be resolved swiftly. The government has reportedly agreed to meet the protesters’ demands following the clashes.
