Tragedy Strikes Indonesia: Devastating Effects of Cold Lava and Flash Floods
Tragedy struck the Indonesian island of Sumatra as flash floods, landslides, and cold lava from Mount Marapi left 43 dead and 19 missing.
Indonesia’s disaster response agency shared images of the devastation caused by the cold lava flow, known as “lahar,” which can travel at incredible speeds and cover vast distances.
Cold lava is highly destructive, posing threats to bridges, roads, and human lives. As Indonesia faces frequent natural disasters due to its geographical location, the nation remains vigilant against volcanic activities.
With Mount Marapi erupted multiple times, claiming lives and covering villages in ash, the risk of further devastation looms large.
As Indonesia continues to battle the forces of nature, the resilience of its people shines through, standing strong amidst the destruction.
