Devastating floods have wreaked havoc in Afghanistan, leaving thousands of homes destroyed, livestock wiped out, and communities struggling to cope. The Nahrin district of Baghlan province saw people carrying their dead to gravesites, with one survivor, Muhammad Yahqoob, losing 13 family members to the floods.

The Taliban’s economy minister has called for support from the United Nations and humanitarian agencies to help those affected. Save the Children estimates that 310,000 children are among the worst-hit by the disaster, with entire villages destroyed, leaving children with nothing.

Afghanistan, already vulnerable to natural disasters, faces a dire situation as aid shortages persist following the Taliban’s takeover and withdrawal of foreign forces. With global attention focused on other crises, the country struggles to rebuild and support its population.
