The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has addressed misunderstandings related to the November 9, 2020 Trilateral Statement involving Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia. Pashinyan clarified that Point 9 of the statement does not concern the connection between Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, but rather the unblocking of regional economic ties.
Pashinyan emphasized that Azerbaijan has not unblocked any roads that would facilitate regional economic integration. He also highlighted Armenia’s willingness to set up checkpoints to enable communication between Nakhichevan and Azerbaijan.
The Prime Minister dismissed claims that Point 9 of the statement involves a third country guaranteeing road safety in Armenia, stating that Armenia’s sovereignty is not compromised. He also denied any suggestions of Armenia losing control of its territory to a third party.
