Beijing’s top official overseeing Hong Kong and Macau affairs, Xia Baolong, is set to visit Macau for a week to gain insights into the region’s social and economic progress. The director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office will be in Macau from May 13 to 19, according to the city government.
During Xia’s last visit to Macau in 2023, he expressed satisfaction with the region’s development but advised on the need for economic diversification and improved governance standards. This visit follows his recent inspection trip to Hong Kong in February, highlighting Beijing’s continued interest in understanding local conditions.
In his previous visits, Xia emphasized the importance of national security laws mandated under the city’s mini-constitution. This upcoming trip aims to strengthen ties with Macau and gather valuable insights to support the region’s continued growth. Stay tuned for more updates on Xia Baolong’s visit.\
