Progressive Forces Unite to End Israeli Apartheid: South African Minister Calls for Action
South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Naledi Pandor, highlighted the urgency for progressive forces globally to unite against the ongoing genocide in Gaza and fight against the apartheid system in Israel. Speaking at the Global Anti-Apartheid Conference for Palestine in Johannesburg, Pandor emphasized the inalienable right of Palestinians to self-determination and the need to address the refugee issue.
‘Watershed Moment’
Pandor described the conference as a pivotal moment for the global anti-apartheid movement on Palestine, calling for justice and accountability. She urged the International Criminal Court to prioritize the investigation into Israel’s crimes, emphasizing the need for decolonization and freedom for the Palestinian people.
Symbolic Gesture of Kuffiyeh
The conference featured various speakers, including Mustafa Barghouti and Reverend Frank Chikane, addressing the collective efforts to dismantle Israeli apartheid. Reverend Munther Isaac symbolically presented Pandor with a kuffiyeh, signifying solidarity and shared struggles. Delegations from around the world are attending workshops to strategize and take action.
