Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain Aims to Increase Wheat Purchase Target to Benefit Farmers

In a recent visit to the PASSCO Center in Faisalabad, Federal Minister for National Food Security, Rana Tanveer Hussain, emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring a fair price for wheat farmers. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also addressed the issue of gunny bags’ unavailability, promising that every grain would be lifted to safeguard the farmers’ interests.

The government has directed PASSCO to adopt a transparent strategy for wheat procurement, receiving 88,000 applications and verifying 1500 so far. Despite challenges posed by climate change, Pakistan has seen a successful wheat crop this year, with hopes for surplus export.

Minister Tanveer highlighted plans to provide affordable fertilizer for farmers and instructed PASSCO staff to uphold fairness in purchasing wheat from growers. The process includes issuing gunny bags based on registration and revenue records to ensure transparency.

For assistance, growers can contact PASSCO’s toll-free number or local officials for guidance on wheat procurement procedures.
