Company linked to ex-e-Government CIO wins contract amid Lesufi panic

The Gauteng Department of e-Government, led by Premier Panyaza Lesufi, recently awarded a contract for an e-panic button to a company that appears to be non-existent. Onele Innovation, the recipient of the R1-million contract, has no online presence and the contact numbers for its director, Onele Malindi, are inactive. Interestingly, the company is registered at a location previously owned by the department’s former chief information officer (CIO).

News24’s investigation revealed that the address listed for Onele Innovation led to a rundown student residence, casting doubt on the legitimacy of the company. This incident underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in government contracts.
