The Indian Embassy in Iran announced the release of five Indian crew members from the seized cargo vessel MSC Aries by Tehran. The crew members departed from Iran, showcasing the close coordination between the Iranian authorities and the Indian Embassy.
The Portuguese-flagged MSC Aries, with a crew of 25 including 17 Indians, was captured by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard near the Strait of Hormuz amidst escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. Among the released crew members was Ann Tessa Joseph, the sole female cadet, on April 18, following efforts by the Indian mission and Iranian government. However, 11 Indian sailors still remain in Iran, awaiting their release.
