Troy Smith from Port Lincoln was enjoying a vacation with his wife, Tracey, in Bali when police raided their resort room and allegedly found methamphetamine.
Smith confessed to having the drugs and is currently facing a potential 12-year prison sentence in Indonesia. His lawyer reported Smith’s emotional state, saying he is regretful and sorry for his actions.
While Tracey was released without charges, the Australian government is providing consular assistance to Smith. Queensland police have been contacted for updates on the investigation into the drug’s sender but have not provided any information.
