Emergency workers continue to search for 39 individuals still missing after a building collapse on Victoria Street in George. Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, has called on South Africans to pray for the families of those affected by this tragedy. The government is prepared to assist the Western Cape provincial government in managing the disaster, as the nation hopes for the recovery of those injured.
“As a country, this is a real devastation. We hope that the numbers don’t go that high, and we know that some are critical [in hospital],” Ntshavheni stated. “We pray for them, and we call on the country to pray for their speedy recovery, and to be with the doctors who are treating them, to give them the best care.”
