The Islamic resistance movement Hamas celebrates the UN General Assembly’s recent resolution recommending the Security Council reconsider Palestine’s membership. Spearheaded by the United Arab Emirates on behalf of the Arab Group, the resolution passed with 143 member states in favor, 9 against, and 25 abstentions.

Hamas sees this as a step towards enhancing the rights of Palestine at the UN and a demonstration of international cooperation. The group urges free countries to support Palestinian freedom and self-determination, calling on the Security Council to recognize Palestine as a full member of the UN.

The resolution, co-sponsored by Turkey and supported by 80 member states, expresses concern over the US veto at the Security Council. The ongoing violence in Palestine, resulting in thousands of deaths and injuries, is condemned by the resolution.

Despite widespread international support, the Israeli regime continues its military aggression with backing from Western allies like the US and France.
