Chinese Zoo Accused of Charging to See Dogs Painted as Pandas
A Chinese zoo in Taizhou has sparked controversy by charging visitors to see “panda dogs,” which are actually chow chow dogs painted to resemble pandas. The zoo charged 20 yuan for this new exhibit, leading to disappointment among visitors who felt deceived.
Despite accusations of false advertising, the zoo worker defended the exhibit, stating that they were not cheating visitors as the dogs were accurately described as chow chows. The zoo spokesperson justified the exhibit by comparing it to people dyeing their hair, claiming it was a creative display since they do not have real pandas.
This is not the first instance of a Chinese zoo resorting to such tricks for attracting visitors. In the past, zoos have tried to pass off dyed dogs as other animals like tigers and even faced rumors of bears being people in costumes. These incidents have raised concerns about ethical practices in Chinese zoos.
