Xi’s European Tour: China Offers EU Way Out of Economic Decline
Sputnik International
Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping recently completed his European tour with visits to France, Serbia, and Hungary. Amid accusations of trying to divide the EU, Xi focused on trade, investments, and a new vision for global politics.
Xi’s meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen occurred during a potential trade war between the EU and China. Despite tensions, China and France agreed to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including finance and nuclear energy.
In Serbia, Xi signed agreements for a Free Trade Agreement and closer economic ties, while also meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to discuss China’s investments in Hungary’s electric vehicle sector and industrial development.
Xi’s tour highlighted the potential for the EU to strengthen economic ties with Beijing and open up new trade routes. This alternative path could help the EU overcome economic challenges and improve relations with China and other Eastern countries.
