West Van transit workers approve new contract, preventing job action.

The threat of a transit stoppage in West Vancouver has been avoided as the union representing Blue Bus drivers and mechanics voted 88% in favor of a new year contract with the District of West Vancouver. This decision was reached after the union members expressed their support for better working conditions and benefits similar to those of their counterparts in the Coast Mountain Bus Company.

ATU Local 134 president Cornel Neagu expressed his gratitude towards the union members and riders in West Vancouver for their support during the negotiation process. The vote comes shortly after the union initially voted 96% in favor of potential job action, highlighting the importance of reaching a fair collective agreement.

The new contract will lead to improvements in working conditions and ultimately result in better transit services for riders in West Vancouver. The union, representing 150 members who operate 64 buses in the West Vancouver system, looks forward to continuing to provide efficient and reliable transportation.
