Reflecting on the Events of May 9: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Stand

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took to Twitter on Thursday to condemn the violent riots that erupted last year on May 9 after the arrest of former premier Imran Khan. He stated that there can be no forgiveness for those who orchestrated the violence and attempted to damage the nation’s foundations.

Shehbaz emphasized the significance of remembering the events of May 9, highlighting the attack on national pride and the sanctity of the homeland. He urged the nation to not forget the criminals behind the violence and vowed that such incidents would not be repeated.

President Asif Ali Zardari also denounced the violence, calling it a dark day in the country’s history. He stressed the importance of holding the perpetrators accountable and promoting tolerance, democratic values, and political dialogue.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the need to bring the culprits to justice to honor the memories of the country’s heroes and unify against internal and external threats.

As the government plans ceremonies and meetings to commemorate the anniversary, the PTI prepares to express solidarity with Imran Khan through gatherings across the country. The lead-up to the anniversary sees media broadcasts recalling the violent protests and clashes that occurred on that day.

Reflecting on the past events, it is crucial for the nation to remember the sacrifices of its heroes, hold those responsible accountable, and work towards a prosperous and stable future.
