Child killings in Sahrawi camps lead to crisis, raise security worries

The Sahrawi camps were shocked by the tragic murder of a child in the El- Güera district of the Aousserd camp. The child was brutally stabbed by a group of perpetrators following a verbal argument. The crime left the child fatally wounded, prompting concerns about the deteriorating security situation in the camps.

According to a source, five of the perpetrators have been identified, while three remain at large. The incident sheds light on the infiltration of armed gangs into the camps, leading to an increase in criminal activities such as drug distribution and violence.

Sahrawi activist Mustapha Salma Ould Sidi Mouloud highlighted the failure of the Polisario Front to secure the camps, allowing for criminal networks to thrive. International intervention is urged to protect the inhabitants, especially children, from further harm.
