The Ministry of Agriculture in Buraimi Successfully Eradicates Mesquite Trees

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources in Buraimi has been actively working to eradicate invasive mesquite trees from the region. Led by Nasser bin Ali al Marshoudi, the department has achieved a 97% success rate in eliminating these trees across over 38540 hectares in the governorate. Areas like Mahdha and Sunaina have already been cleared, with the focus now on areas like Buraimi’s Hafeet region.

To ensure the swift completion of the campaign, the directorate has created a detailed time plan in collaboration with both government and private entities in the area. The project has also been supported with specialized equipment and machinery operated by local workforce.

Marshoudi is optimistic about the complete eradication of mesquite trees from Buraimi. These trees are known to cause respiratory allergies and teeth decay in animals. With the continued efforts of the ministry, the region is on track to be free from this invasive species soon.
