Stay Safe on the Roads: Recent Accidents Highlight the Importance of Caution
In a recent update from Captain Ayman Al-Harahsheh of the Highway Patrol Department at the Public Security Directorate, it was reported that 10 people were injured in various road accidents across Jordan within the last 24 hours. With the onset of rain, a series of accidents occurred, underscoring the importance of being cautious while driving.
Fortunately, most accidents did not result in serious injuries. However, one collision on the Al-Adassiya-Naour road left four individuals moderately injured, requiring them to be rushed to Southern Shuna Hospital by civil defense personnel.
Another incident occurred on the Amman-Zarqa Road, resulting in four injuries. These individuals were swiftly taken to Prince Faisal Hospital and Mount Olive Hospital for medical attention.
In the early hours of Tuesday, a more serious accident took place on the desert road towards Amman after the Karak Bridge. Two individuals were injured in this collision and were promptly transferred to Karak Governmental Hospital by the Civil Defense teams. Their condition was described as moderate.
Al-Harahsheh attributed these accidents to a variety of factors, including lack of proper traffic precautions, tailgating, incorrect handling of turns, and driving in the wrong lane. He emphasized the importance of remaining cautious, especially in unpredictable weather conditions, and maintaining a safe distance between vehicles.
He also urged drivers to refrain from dangerous behaviors such as speeding, using mobile phones while driving, dangerous overtaking, and driving in the wrong lane. Such violations can significantly increase the risk of accidents on the road.
On a more serious note, Al-Harahsheh mentioned the arrest of a cargo vehicle driver for running a red light and the discovery of a cargo vehicle carrying 15 passengers in the trunk – a clear violation of safety regulations.
