UN Asst Sec-Gen in Armenia for 4-day visit.

Exciting news for Armenia as Ivana Zivkovic, the United Nations (UN) Assistant Secretary-General and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Assistant Administrator, has landed in the country for a four-day visit. This visit aims to strengthen the partnership between UNDP and the Government of Armenia, as well as to get a firsthand look at UNDP’s key interventions on the ground, including their response to the refugee crisis.

During her stay, Zivkovic, accompanied by UNDP Resident Representative Natia Natsvlishvili, will engage with high-ranking officials such as the President of the National Assembly, the Deputy Prime Minister, and the Deputy Foreign Minister to discuss important projects like the new initiative on parliamentary democracy in Armenia.

In addition, she will hold meetings with the UN Country Team, diplomatic representatives, development partners, and members of civil society. Zivkovic will also tour various project sites in Gegharkunik, Tavush, Ararat, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik Provinces to meet with beneficiaries and witness the impact of UNDP’s work firsthand.

Before assuming her current role in September 2022, Ivana Zivkovic served as the Director-General for Economic Affairs and Development Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia. She brings a wealth of experience to her position, holding a Master’s degree in International Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Zagreb.
