Citizens of Occupied Syrian Golan Commemorate Martyrs’ Day
On Monday, citizens of the occupied Syrian Golan gathered at the squares of Baqaata and Majdal Shams to commemorate Martyrs’ Day, honoring the sacrifices made for their homeland and showing loyalty to their pure blood. The event began with laying wreaths on the martyrs’ memorial and reading verses from the Quran for the souls of the martyrs. Participants raised the national flag and delivered speeches reaffirming the Golan’s Arab Syrian identity and commitment to following the path set by the martyrs.
The citizens emphasized that the path of martyrdom is a sacred value passed down through generations, with victory being achieved through sacrifices alone. The legacy of martyrdom in the Golan has been present since its occupation 57 years ago. Hassan Fakhr al-Din highlighted the importance of upholding the values of martyrdom in defense of the homeland.
Syria commemorates Martyrs’ Day on May 6th annually, in memory of those who were executed by the Ottomans in 1916.
