Japan’s Rapidus is gearing up to kickstart mass production of next-generation semiconductors by 2027.
The Tokyo-based chipmaker, established in August 2022 by a coalition of eight Japanese firms, has its sights set on achieving domestic production of cutting-edge semiconductors.
The revival of Japan’s semiconductor industry, once a global leader, is paramount for bolstering the country’s economic security. The Japanese government has pledged nearly ¥1 trillion in subsidies to Rapidus to support this initiative.
