The commission of inquiry into the tragic Usindiso building fire, which claimed the lives of 76 individuals in August 2023, has uncovered shocking revelations. The City of Johannesburg and the Johannesburg Property Company (JPC) were aware of the deplorable conditions at the building for years but failed to take any action despite numerous warnings.

Impressed by the inquiry’s thorough work, the premier expressed his commitment to implementing the recommendations put forth in the report.
